Then we took....Moncton!

october 15 & 16

After 8 am tai chi on the Annapolis wharf, we loaded cars and headed off to New Brunswick.

Arriving at the Rodd Hotel around 5 pm on Wednesday we found that the hotel was in need of rooms with two beds.  Sally, Adrian, Wayne, Terry, Nat, and Susan agreed to one bed  (per couple) and in return each got a bottle of wine.  I'd say we were off to a good start.

Hilary Mackay, a friend of Nat, Susan, and Wayne's, whom they met in Thailand, was our resident groupie, fan club, wardrobe mistress, photographer and rehearsal director.  This was her first trip to Canada from her home in Scotland, and hopefully not her last...

Wednesday's group dinner was at Pisces, where we had a room of our own, and while it didn't match the meal we had in Montreal, it was fun to have the whole cast together.  After dinner, we repaired to Nat and Susan's room to demolish some of our gift wine and tape our version of 'Bob & Ted & Alice & Carol'.  Here's the link:  The after-party

The Company wining and dining

Thursday morning dawned warm and grey, and having missed the tidal bore at 5:30 am, we tai chi'd by the river, before proceeding to the Aberdeen Centre.
Food is of prime interest to the Company of Angels, so we lunched at the Aberdeen Centre cafe, with its hand-painted tables ( one of which featured little pigs and mounted men in armor ) and good soups and salads.
Then it was into the studio theatre to do a spacing run.

The chairs, the chairs!

Did we mention the importance of food?  This is the craft table in the dressing room.
This is us getting ready...

The audience was young and  enthusiastic, the Q & A was fun and then it was time for the after-party at the Pump Room, followed by an after-after party in Nat and Susan's room.

Getting ready for Moncton

Sheilagh is here so we are now an even dozen dancers at the Granville Ferry Community Hall, having a class, a group back rub, and, oh yes, a DITTA rehearsal!

and now for something completely different....

           Harvesting Baca Noir

october 7

Some of the angels spent a lovely, warm afternoon helping Chief Angel Randy harvest and stem his Baca Noir grapes... and getting a chemistry lesson too!
In the beginning there were the grapes:

Susan and Grace

3 1/2 garbage bags later....

Weighing the grapes

Into the crusher... stemming grapes makes for sticky hands
Nat, Grace, Freeman hard at work
But lest you think it was all work and no play.... there was happy hour too!

Just foolin' around...

Squished grapes

Measuring sugar content

Tasting the grape juice....sweet!

Now to measure the acidity.  This involved adding sodium sulfate (? or some other double-barreled chemical) and water, then watching for a color change; from purple to dark gray.
First, read the instructions

Second, add stuff

Uh oh!!!

And so we left Randy to clean up, sterilize, add yeast, etc etc.  Thanks, Randy!
